Without a connection, a course that keeps its books in QuickBooks Online re-keys them from the golf system: a daily sales report printed or exported, then typed into journal entries, then checked against the bank. When the restaurant runs on a separate POS, that happens twice. The accountant sees the month a week after it ends and cannot trace a figure back to the sale behind it.
Links Meridian writes its own double-entry journal at the moment of each sale, so the numbers it sends to QuickBooks Online are already balanced. You connect your QuickBooks Online company once, then map the Links Meridian ledger onto your QuickBooks chart of accounts; if an account you need is missing, it can be created in QuickBooks from the mapping screen. After that, the sync runs on its own.
In summary mode, each day becomes one balanced journal in QuickBooks Online, numbered by date. If a late posting changes a day that was already sent, that day's journal is updated rather than duplicated. In document mode, invoices, bills and payments go across one by one, and the customer or vendor is found in QuickBooks or created there. Every send carries a request ID, so a retry never creates a second copy, and every run is listed in the sync history on the integrations screen.
The sync is one way, from Links Meridian to QuickBooks Online. The golf operation is the system of record; entries your accountant makes directly in QuickBooks stay in QuickBooks. Links Meridian also refuses to connect a QuickBooks company whose home currency differs from the club's, so a dollar club never posts into a company kept in another currency.
