Without a connection, a club that keeps its books in Xero re-keys them from the golf system: a daily takings report exported or printed, typed into Xero as a manual journal, then matched against the bank feed. When the bar runs on a separate EPOS, that happens twice. The treasurer or bookkeeper sees the month a week after it ends and cannot trace a figure back to the sale behind it.
Links Meridian writes its own double-entry journal at the moment of each sale, so the numbers it sends to Xero are already balanced. An administrator connects the club's Xero organisation once, signing in to Xero and approving access, then maps each Links Meridian ledger account to an account code in the club's Xero chart of accounts. After that, the sync runs on its own.
In summary mode, each day becomes one manual journal in Xero, with debits and credits on the account codes you mapped. It arrives as a draft, so your bookkeeper reviews the day and posts it, the same way a journal keyed by hand would be. In document mode, invoices, bills and payments go across one by one as approved documents, and the customer or supplier is found in Xero or created there. Every run is listed in the sync history on the integrations screen.

The next sync notices that the day no longer matches what Xero holds and says so in the sync history, naming the day, so your bookkeeper can adjust that journal in Xero.
Our Xero organisation uses multi-currency. Does that matter?
